Eray Gülay

Eray Gülay completed his dance studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany in 2017. During his 4-year studies he concentrated on learning and developing his modern and ballet technique. After successfully graduating, he worked in the 2017/18 season in the dance company "Folkwang Tanzstudio" and performed in dance pieces by renowned choreographers such as Jérôme Bel, Mark Sieczkarek and Reinhild Hoffmann. Eray also worked as a choreographic assistant; he was involved in pieces such as: “wilderness tender” by Stephanie Miracle (2018) and “Femina Saga” by Marie Zoe Buchholz (2020).

In the commercial industry, he worked with companies like Tamaris, Acer, adidas and Schwarzkopf. He danced and choreographed for the German band Frida Gold and Matthew Wood and performed live on stage with international acts such as Cakes Da Killa, TT The Artist and Barbara Tucker.

Eray has also been part of the ballroom scene since 2014 and is a member of the House of Elle. Since then, he has been active in the scene and gives internationally  Voguing-Workshops (more here)..

Today, he collaborates with the Düsseldorf choreographer Ben J. Riepe and is a dance teacher at tanzhaus nrw in Düsseldorf, where he teaches voguing courses. He also works in the Shapes & Shades collective and organizes workshops, panel talks and balls as part of Ballroom. Since then he has been working passionately on his skills and creativity in performance art and is open to new challenges.
